Best Match Sort
Hello and Happy New Year!
We are kicking off the new year with what we hope is good news for you: starting this week you should see improvement to top results in your keyword searches from our Products API.
Since we first launched, our Product API results have been sorted alphabetically. This may be okay if you are a machine, but it’s not ideal of you are a human. Enter “best match” – a sort based on a correlation score, not the alphabet. With our latest release, query results are, by default*, sorted to show products that most closely match your search term(s). To see the new sort in action, here is a before and after for a search on Harmony Remote:
Still see something you don’t expect in your top results? Drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org with your search term and what you expected to see.
We hope the new sorting provides you with a better experience for you and your customers.
Happy 2017 and happy searching!
*You can change our default sorting by appending sort=attribute.asc OR
sort=attribute.dsc with your preferred sort attribute (e.g., salePrice). To revert to our previous default sort, append sort=name.asc to your query.
